Introductory events

To help first-year students get off to a good start, various orientation and information sessions are offered. At the beginning of each semester, a preparatory course in mathematics is offered that reviews key topics from high school. Registration takes place via the Department of Mathematics website.
At the beginning of each semester, the student council organizes a so-called “Freshman Seminar.” The seminar includes various activities during which students from the Chemistry Student Council introduce the curriculum, the professors, and the departments. Further information is published on the Chemistry Student Council’s Freshman Orientation website.

Chemical internships

All students completing a chemical internship at the Department of Chemistry require proof of participation in a general safety instruction course no longer than one year ago. The general safety instruction is offered at the beginning of each semester. In addition, a special safety briefing is held before each chemical internship and attendance is mandatory for participation in the internship.
The "Experimental Techniques" practical courseis integrated into the first semester of the Bachelor's degree courses in Chemistry, Food Chemistry and Chemistry with a focus on Business Studies and Economics.
