Main research areas
- Accompanying research on video-based reflective teaching and learning support for students based on the KMK standards for teacher training. The focus is on the development and testing of tools that accompany the development of teacher-specific skills (such as the ability to make judgments through observation and evaluation skills, the ability to reflect, and communication skills, etc.). Reflective teaching and learning support is provided by means of online questionnaires, video sequences and e-portfolios.
- EVA3PLUS: Evaluation of attitudes, behavior and intentions towards experiments, experiments & working methods in cross-phase teacher training at university and school. The proportion of experiments in chemistry and biology lessons is too low compared to the high goals of subject didactics. The aim of the project is to identify reasons and influencing factors for this fact in a behavioral model structurally based on an extended theory of planned behavior by Ajzen and Fishbein (1991). To this end, the attitudes, behavioral intentions, competence levels of trainee teachers and the use of experiments in lessons in the experiment-oriented subjects of biology and chemistry will be investigated. The data are collected computer-assisted at teacher training colleges and schools in a 3-wave longitudinal panel design. The results are related to factors of university education as well as to social and individual explanatory factors, the influence strengths are statistically estimated and interpreted in the behavioral model.
- Accompanying research for the development, testing and evaluation of teaching concepts and materials for chemistry lessons at secondary levels I and II. The didactic focus here is on cooperative lesson development.
