The state seminar for the Chemistry Olympiad has been organized and held for many years at RPTU by the Department of Chemistry Didactics with support from the specialist sciences. The competition is financially supported by the German Chemical Industry Association (VCI)

In a three-day seminar, the participants are given an all-round insight into the everyday life of a chemistry laboratory as well as the possibilities and content of a chemistry degree course. The focus here is on experiments that are not part of normal school life due to their complexity and the time required. For example, organic syntheses including analytical methods for determining purity and enzymatic investigations are currently included in the seminar.

In addition to the didactics of chemistry, staff from the specialist sciences provide support in the area of analytical issues (organic chemistry) or enzymatics (biochemistry). In addition, as of this year, participants can ask all the questions they have always wanted to ask a professor as part of a professor talk in direct conversation with professors from various areas of study.
