CHNS service for FB Chemie

The elemental analyses [CHN / S] are carried out using the vario Micro cube device from Elementar Analysensysteme .
This device can also be used to determine the sulphur content. If you would like the S content to be specified, please note this on the analysis sheet.

Guidelines for the submission of elemental analyses
Guidelines as pdf-file
Analyses will only be processed with a fully completed analysis form. Please ensure that the same sample designation is noted on the form and the sample. The labeling of the samples must be durable (waterproof pen or sticker!)
The analysis form is now available as a fillable pdf file:
Download - Analysis form for CHNS (pdf-file)
The samples to be analyzed must be homogeneous and pulverized (large crystals include solvent).
Samples can be submitted in the following vessels
- Schlenk tubes < 15 cm total length
- Eppendorff tubes
- Small conical flasks or round bottom flasks (volume < 50 ml, please do not use powders in round bottom flasks!)
- Special vials for small volumes of liquid are also available in the department
The delivery of extremely air-sensitive samples is possible in cooperation with Prof. Sitzmann's working group. The samples can be filled in a glovebox there. Please contact Ms. Dusch or Ms. Ellmer in advance.
If "briefly air-stable" is ticked on the form, the substance is filled within 2 - 3 minutes and then argon is added to the Schlenk tube again.
